6 Days Kruger Park Explorer – North to South SafariPerfect for travellers short on time but eager to experience the magic of Kruger National Park from its wild northern reaches to the wildlife-rich south.This carefully designed self-drive safari takes you on an unforgettable journey through diverse landscapes, from remote baobab country to prime Big Five territory.This 6-day caravan-friendly itinerary through Kruger Park focuses on tarred or well-maintained gravel roads from north to south, starting at Punda Maria. It covers prime game viewing, including the Mahonie Loop, Shingwedzi River and the big cat-rich S100, ending in the central-south area with an easy exit via Malelane Gate.

Route ItineraryDay 1: Punda Maria Gate & Camp
-Route: Enter Punda Maria Gate, drive directly to Punda Maria Rest Camp on the main road.
-Activity: Relax at the camp, explore the bird-rich Mahonie Loop (gravel, but generally fine for caravans in dry season) and watch for nyala and bushbuck.Day 2: Punda Maria to Shingwedzi (±110 km)
-Route: Take the H1-7 south, a scenic, tarred route suitable for caravans.
-Activity: Explore the Shingwedzi River loops for elephants and waterbuck.

Day 3: Shingwedzi to Mopani(Approx. 2-3 hours)
-Route: Continue south on the H1-7 and H1-6.
-Activity: Enjoy the Pioneer Dam views, renowned for elephant herds and stunning sunsets.

Day 4: Mopani to Satara (Approx. 3-4 hours)
-Route: Drive through the heart of the park via the H1-6 to the H1-4.
-Activity: Drive the S100 (often accessible, but check road conditions) or the H6/S41 for excellent lion and leopard sightings.

Day 5–6: Satara to Skukuza
-Route: Drive south through the H1-2 and H1-1, exploring the Sabie River area.
-Activity: Visit the Nkuhlu picnic site.
-Exit: Exit via the tarred road to Malelane Gate for a straightforward, 5-hour drive back to Gauteng.

Important Tips for Caravans:-Roads: While the main tar roads (H-routes) are excellent, some S-routes (dirt) can be rough. Check conditions at the camp reception before attempting, especially if towing.-Fuel: Available at Punda Maria, Shingwedzi, Mopani, Satara, and Skukuza.-Booking: Book sites well in advance, especially during school holidays.
